Libero C. “Lee” Valente, 91

Libero C. “Lee” Valente, 91, of Milford, passed away July 9, 2015 in the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Maria Lugina Salemme and the late Erasmo Valente. His wife Constance died in 2004 after 52 years of marriage.
Lee was born in Gaeta, Italy. At the age of 7 he, his mother and younger brother Cosmo, crossed the Atlantic Ocean and immigrated through Ellis Island. He grew up in the Plains section of Milford, attended Milford Schools and Northeastern University. During the Big Band Era of the 40’s and 50’s, the Valente Orchestra became very popular throughout the Blackstone Valley area, playing many functions. After the band, he owned and operated a dental laboratory for over 30 years retiring in 1992. After retiring Lee and Connie enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S.A. and Europe. As a hobby in his retirement, he studied the art of writing. He has written many short stories. His love for family was always visible. It was a catalyst that gave him much happiness and contentment within his life. 
He is survived by two daughter, Bonita Daudelin and her husband Kevin of Milford, Belinda O’Loughlin and her husband Timothy of Princeton, three grandchildren, Holly Daudelin, Brian Daudelin and Joseph O’Loughlin, two brothers, Raymond Valente and Louis Valente.
He was predeceased by his bother Cosmo Valente.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, July 13, 2015 at 10 A.M. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 7 East Main St. Milford. The burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A calling hour will be held Monday morning prior the funeral mass from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. Milford MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
