Dr. Philip M. LeMarbre

With a heavy heart we announce Dr. Philip LeMarbre, 67, of Hopedale, lost his battle with ALS.  He passed away in his home on July 27, 2017, surrounded by his wife and all of his children.

Phil met his wife Jessica (Viens) at a New Year’s Eve party in 1977.  He always said, “She saved me from a life as a beach bum wandering the Cape”.  They married in 1977 and had five children, Danielle Sullivan, Stephen LeMarbre, Joelle LeMarbre, Dominique Green, and Alexandra Lavallee.  He took particular joy in his eight grandchildren, who visited him regularly at the “Cape House”.  He loved the noise and chaos and having a house full of people.

Dr. LeMarbre was one of seven children born to Albert and Dorothy LeMarbre.  He was born in Natick, MA and later moved to Mendon, MA.  He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at Assumption College and went on to earn his doctorate in Biology at Boston University.  Dr. Phil’s career was varied and he was a man of many talents.  However, his true passion for the last ten years was teaching high school science at Blackstone Valley Regional Tech.  Mentoring and teaching was one of the most fulfilling things he did with his career and he talked of his students fondly and often.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 1st, at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street in Hopedale.  Burial will follow immediately.

Calling hours will be on Monday, July 31st from 5:00-8:00PM at Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water Street, Milford. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to CCALS, P.O. Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574. https://www.ccals.org/you-can-help/donate/

I know I’m late on this, but I have just found out that this lovely old man has passed. He was a terrific teacher, got me excited about boring science stuff that I thought I’d rather make fun of then think about. Most of all, he pushed his students, so much that I don’t know if I’d be where I am today without the guy. Sweet rest, Doc. I’ll forever remember the difference between polymers and monomers because of you. May this world quickly reincaranate that beautiful soul of yours,

Many thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Phil. He is in a better place and resting now.

I had the privilege to visit Phil and Jessica with The gift of The Eucharist over the past several months of his illness. We shared conversations, personal reflections and most significantly prayed, listening to The Word of The Lord and celebrating Communion. They were and will continue to be, forever, a perfect example of the holy sacrament of marriage. Phil bore his illness with courage and a steadfast acceptance of his plight without rancor or bitterness. He put his faith and belief in the promises of Christ and was sustained by the blessed hope of everlasting life. I will never forget this gentle loving man and hope I can learn to be more like him. Jessica, your devotion to Phil and courage during your shared time of trial has inspired and reminded me that we are placed here to love and care for each other " for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health until death us do part". May you and your wonderful family be sustained in knowing that Phil isn't gone but has moved on, as each of us must, to advocate for and prepare a place for those we love in the perfect peace of Heaven!

To the LeMarbre Family, I am so sorry for your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time. I only knew of him through his sister, Joan, whom I work with, as a kind, caring, and good man. May he rest in peace.
