George Vieira, 91, of Milford, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Mary (Lage) Vieira for 69 years. He was born in Ludlow, son of the late Macemino and Maria (Martins) Vieira and lived in Portugal as a young adult before moving to Milford. Mr. Vieira retired in 1990 from the former Data General where he was employed as a packer. He previously was employed as a foundry worker at the former draper Corp. in Hopedale.
He was a communicant of the St. Mary of the Assumption Church and a member of the Milford Portuguese Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Jose Vieira and his wife Suzanne of Milford, Daniel Vieira and his wife Jackie of Milford, one sister Aida Silva of Hopedale, six grandchildren, Brian, Liane, Valerie, Cassandra, Jillian and Alyssa, two grandchildren, Jack and Madison.
He was predeceased by his sister, Julia Esteves.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 10 A.M. at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Winter St. The burial will follow at the parish cemetery.
A calling hour will be held prior to the funeral Mass from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St.
