Julia Abrantes Correia, 94,

Julia Abrantes Correia, 94, of Milford, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Countryside Health Care surrounded by her family and friends. She was the wife of 37 years to the late Alberto Filipe Correia who passed away in 1988. Born in Real, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Francisco Simoes and Maria Rita Matos Abrantes and moved to Milford’s Prospect Heights in 1941.

Julia retired in 1988 from Waters Associates where she worked in manufacturing. She was previously employed at the Draper Corporation in Hopedale until its closing.

She avidly created amazing blankets and other crocheted crafts which she shared freely with her family, friends and acquaintances.  Known as “Gram” to most, she always had a helping hand and friendly smile whether you needed something cooked, baked, sewn or cleaned. Over the years, she and her husband open their home and helped many families integrate into the Milford area from Portugal.

Julia was the beloved mother of her son Alberto Abrantes Correia and his wife Sharon. Julia’s world revolved around her grandchildren: Alexis Abrantes Forgit and husband Christopher Forgit of Milford, Emily Elizabeth Correia of Boston and great grandson Chase Abrantes Forgit of Milford.  She was predeceased by sisters Estefana Abreu and Ruth Violante.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Friday November 2, 2018 at 9 A.M. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Winter St. The burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M.

To Julia's family and friends, please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss. It's so hard to lose someone we love, but the seeming finality of death is what makes it especially difficult. Job 14:14,15 gives us confidence that Jehovah God yearns to bring back to life the dead who are preserved in his memory. The Bible gives us a wonderful hope of living in a paradise on earth and seeing the resurrection of our dead loved ones. (Luke 23:43; John 5:28,29) May this bring you some comfort and strength, remembering that soon God will wipe away our tears and swallow up death forever. (Isaiah 25:8)
