Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home

Theresa (Tessie) R. Iacovelli, 94,

Theresa (Tessie) R. Iacovelli, 94, of Milford passed away on Tuesday, March 7th at her home. She was the wife of the late Francis R. Iacovelli, who died just one year ago. Together, they owned and operated the Francis Flower Shop, located at 78 Prospect Street in Milford.

For over seven decades Tessie and her husband Francis worked side by side along with their children and several family members at the flower shop.  The “shop” has been a popular business establishment in the community for 75 years to friends and customers alike.  Tessie’s work specialty was decorating and cleaning.  She took great pride in the beautiful, seasonal window displays that graced the front of the shop. And, she always made sure that the flower shop was spic and span.

Theresa was born in Milford, to Albert and Margaret (Niro) Bernardi and was a lifelong Milford resident. She graduated from Milford High School in 1947 and belonged to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Milford. Like her husband Francis, she was truly devoted to her family. Her life was family and work. She also loved the arts. She painted, stenciled, sewed, refurbished furniture, decorated and redecorated often. She always had an excellent artist’s eye.

She leaves a daughter, Patrice Iacovelli, two sons, John Iacovelli (Marianne), Rob Iacovelli (Anjeza), three grandchildren, Greg Iacovelli, Carolyn McCarthy (Kevin), Isabella Iacovelli, one great grandson, Jack McCarthy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husband Francis, she is predeceased by her parents, her siblings, Andy Bernardi, Jip Calzaloia and Dot Carnaroli and her god daughter, Rita Niro.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 10 AM from the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 5 East Main Street. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Calling hours for Theresa Iacovelli are on Monday from 5 to 7 PM.

Personal character traits tend to define us as we go through life. Tessie's hallmark was personal sacrifice and loyalty. Her husband, her children and all those customers who became family were better for having known her. My wife, Barbara, and I want to extend our most sincere sympathy to the Iacovelli family.
