Verna (Hanna) Parente, 89, of Milford, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Countryside Healthcare. She was the wife of the late Leo Parente Jr. who passed away in 2010. She was born in Lake City, South Carolina daughter of the late John and Myrtie (Lyerly) Hanna and moved to Milford in 1953. She was educated in the South Carolina Schools. She was a Korean War Army Veteran. She was employed as a L.P.N. at the Wrentham State School for many years.
Mrs. Parente was a longtime member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church Women’s club. She was an avid basketball player in her younger years and was a Boston Celtics fan.
She is survived by her children, Michael Parente and his wife Donna of Milford, Steven Parente of Uxbridge, Sharon and her husband Peter Tredeau of Milford, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Dalton Hanna, Ellsworth Hanna, Buren Hanna, Charlton Hanna, John Gee Hanna, Clayton Hanna, and her sisters, Mary Olive Coker, Betty Jo Hill and Shirley McAllister.
A Celebration of Life with Eucharist will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11 A.M. in the Trinity Episcopal Church 17 Congress St. in Milford. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery on Depot St. in Milford.
Calling hours will be held Saturday morning prior to the church services from 9 to 10:30 A.M. at the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home Inc. 46 Water St. Milford MA.
