Anthony J. Antonio, 91

Anthony J. Antonio, 91, of Milford, where he has lived for 59 years, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his devoted family.   Loving husband of 59 years to Julia M. (Gonsalves) Antonio, he was born in Framingham, the son of the late Albino and Laurinda (Brito) Antonio, and was a graduate of Framingham High School, class of 1939.   He retired after 35 years with General Motors in Framingham.   Anthony was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Milford, and the Portuguese Club, where he served as an Honorary Mayor in 2012. He was also a retired member of the UAW, and a former member of Pinecrest Country Club in Holliston, and served as a Sergeant in the  U.S. Army during WWII. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his family, was an avid sports fan, and was very involved with all of his grandchildren’s activities.   In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Janice M. Kowal and her husband David of Milford, Donna L. Karlovich and her husband Richard of Newport, RI, and Nancy J. Castiglione of Hopedale, and her companion Tony Chinappi. He was the brother of Avelino Antonio of Framingham, Palmira Ferracamo of Framingham, Arthur Antonio of Whitinsville, Aurelio Antonio of Framingham, Vera Antonio of Framingham, and the late James and Joseph Antonio. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Kowal, Paul and Mark Castiglione, Alycia Karlovich, Andrew Chinappi, the late Nicole Karlovich, his great-grandson, Nathan Castiglione, and many nieces and nephews.  The Funeral will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 11 A.M. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. Milford MA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 27 Pearl St. Milford, MA. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery   Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M.   Donations may be made in his memory to the Oliva Patient Comfort Fund, 20 Prospect St., Milford, MA 01757, or the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice of Greater Milford, 37 Birch St., Milford, MA 01757.
