Manuel C. Pereira, 85, of Milford died Wednesday July 3, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Husband of Maria L. (Silva) Pereira for 58 years, he was born in Milford, the son of the late Antonio and Teresa (Costella) Pereira. At the age of four, his family moved back to Portugal, where he was raised and educated, until returning to Milford in 1955. He had worked for many years as a pattern man at the former Milford Shoe Co., and retired in 1995 from New Balance in Lawrence after 10 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Milford, and was a member of the Portuguese Club. His interests included photography, bowling, and especially enjoyed watching soccer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Antonio Pereira of Milford, his sister Deolinda Sousa of North Brookfield, 2 grandchildren, Theresa Souza and her husband Jason, and John Pereira, of Milford. Also survived by 2 great-granddaughters, Vanessa and Savanah Souza.
His Funeral will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 9 A.M. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. Milford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in the St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church on Winter St. Burial will be held at a later date.
Calling hours are Friday from 5 to 8 P.M.
