Lena R. (Spallone) Calagione, 95, of Milford, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Countryside Health Care in Milford, following a brief period of declining health.
Loving wife of Joseph P. Calagione for 63 years, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Jennie (Parente) Spallone. She was raised and educated in Milford, having worked for a number of years at the Bickford Shoe Company, in the design department, as a prototype stitcher.
During her married life, she was a devoted mother and homemaker. Later in life, she enjoyed working on various crafts, including needlework, crocheting and tatting. Many of her creations were donated to various organizations including Milford Regional Medical Center, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, and Countryside Health Care. She was also a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a former member of the Sacred Heart Women’s Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Joseph A. Calagione and his wife Lisa of Milford, two granddaughters, Leanne Calagione Micciche, wife of Jason Micciche of Milford, and Bethany Calagione of Boston. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Lucy D. Bibbo,
A calling hour will be held Monday, January 4, 2016, from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water Street Milford, MA, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 A.M. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main St., Milford. The burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery on Medway Road, in Milford.
