Antonio Costa, 89

Antonio Costa, 89

Antonio Costa passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Mangualde, Portugal on September 15, 1936, he carried the spirit of his homeland throughout his life while embracing the opportunities of his adopted country. Driven by love for his family and dreams of a brighter future, he immigrated to the United States in 1969, where he would build a life defined by hard work, dedication, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

“Tony’s” greatest joy was always his family. He was a devoted husband, father (Pai), grandfather (Avô), and great grandfather (Vovô) who taught his children the values of perseverance, integrity, and the importance of family bonds.

A man of deep community spirit, Tony was actively involved, especially at the Milford Portuguese Club and Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish. He believed in giving back and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him, leaving a lasting impact on his community.

An avid soccer fan, he never missed a chance to watch his beloved Sporting CP play, sharing his passion for the beautiful game with family and friends. His love for Portugal remained strong throughout his life, and he instilled in his children and grandchildren a deep appreciation for their heritage.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Maria Amelia. They shared a profoundly special bond, one that kept them side by side through every moment, finding comfort, strength, and peace simply in being together. His children Maria DeLurdes Goncalves and her husband João Goncalves, José Manuel Costa and his wife Pam Costa, grandchildren Daniel Goncalves and his wife Thea Goncalves, Amanda Masotta and her husband Chris Masotta, Christopher Costa, Nicholas Costa, Jeffrey Costa and his wife Krystal Costa, and four great grandchildren Griffin Goncalves, Caleb Goncalves, Leo Masotta and Oliver Masotta. Three sisters, Maria Helena Tomaz, Margarida Figueira, Maria Ferreira and one brother, Manuel DaCosta and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother João Costa and parents José Costa and Maria Assunção Costa.

Visiting Hours for Tony will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St, Milford, MA 01757. A Funeral Service will be held at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, 17 Winter St, Milford, MA at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 5, 2025. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Milford, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: New England Center for Children (autism education and research) https://donate.necc.org/give/477960/#!/donation/checkout or Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish https://stmarymilford.org/ways-to-give in memory of Antonio Costa.
