Mary (O’Brien) Krula, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, after a brief period of declining health. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of William O’Brien and Ida (Plouffe) O’Brien. Mary married and began her family in Worcester before moving to Millbury, Massachusetts, where she raised her daughters. She later made her home on Cape Cod, building a successful career as a hairstylist and proudly owning her own business, Mary’s Beauty Boutique.
She eventually settled in Sutton, Massachusetts, where she spent the remainder of her life. Mary enjoyed the simple pleasures of everyday life—bingo nights, Scrabble, tea with the neighborhood “gals,” and, most of all, caring for her grandchildren, who were truly the center of her world. She was known for her warm heart and the deep love she held for her family. Her home was always open, and her presence brought comfort, laughter, and joy. Mary could always be counted on to help, no matter the need. She was predeceased by her first husband, Russell Johnson of Millbury. She later remarried and shared many loving years with her late husband, John Krula of Sutton.
Mary leaves behind her devoted daughters: Patricia Dowd, Linda Johnson and her partner Lynne Banner, and Susan Penner and her husband Michael Penner. She was a proud grandmother to Michael Moore and his fiancée, Sandra Orne, Matthew Moore and his wife Melissa Moore, Michael Penner, and Maxwell Penner; a great-grandmother to Madison Moore, Jonathan Moore, Joe Moore, and Michael Moore; and a great-great-grandmother to Cassidy Anderson. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Dolly Collette, and her dearest friend of many years, Marie Stacey, both of whom held a very special place in her heart.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 10 A.M. at the St. James Church 89 Main St. South Grafton. The burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery 380 Providence Road, South Grafton. Mary will be remembered for her generosity, her laughter, and the boundless love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in all who were blessed to know and love her.
