Bernadina V. (Cerca) Vaz, 97, of Milford, passed away, December 25, 2017 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Joao Vaz who passed away in 1998. She was born in Bobadela, Bouticas, Portugal, daughter of the late Manuel and Ana (Vilacha) Cerca and moved to Milford in 1970. Mrs. Vaz retired in 1984 from the former Milford Shoe Company in Milford where she was employed as an assembler.  She was a communicant of the St. Mary of the Assumption Church.          

She is survived by her children, Paul Vaz, Joao Vaz and Mario Vaz all of Milford, Jose Vaz of New Bedford, step-son Anibal Vaz of New Bedford, step-daughter, Gloria Ribiero of New Bedford, Eugenia Fraga of Portugal, Sameira Baptista of Milford, one sister Madeline of Portugal, eighteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.   She was predeceased by her grandson Mario Vaz and her son Amandio Vaz.           The funeral will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 9 A.M. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford, MA. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 A.M. at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Winter St. The burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 P.M.
