Robert Paul Burns (Biba), age 67

Robert Paul Burns (Biba), age 67 of Hopedale MA was welcomed into glory on October 18, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer.  Robert was the beloved son of Bernard and Angelina (Gildone) Burns.  He leaves behind his caring wife of 32 years Amy (Taylor) Burns.  He was the loving father and friend to Spenser Burns and Mason (Leighann) Burns of Hopedale.

Bob was a 1969 graduate of Milford High School, 1973 graduate of Assumption College with degrees in Psychology and English and earned his master degree at Anna Maria College in Psychology and Counseling. He worked for the Department of Social Services for 38 years.  Bob was also a local real estate investor, former Justice of the Peace and owned Christian Counseling Associates.

Bob's greatest love was for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He had strong beliefs and would take the time to share the gospel without hesitation.  He attended Mendon Community Church having served in many offices over the last 29 years.

Bob was dedicated to politics and served the Town of Hopedale in many ways, currently serving on the Board of Health and Water & Sewer Commission.  He also served nine years as Selectman, was on the finance committee, and the original recycling committee.

Bob was passionate in what he believed but always would take the time to listen to both sides and then make his decision. You may not always have agreed but you always knew where you stood.

Bob met life with courage, wisdom and a sense of humor that left a lasting impression on all he met.  If you had the privilege to know him a long time, or just a brief visit, your life was changed.  At times he made us cry, made us mad, but most of the times, he made us laugh till we hurt.

In addition to his wife and sons he also leaves a sister Andrea (Dennis) Stizza of Oceanside CA and a brother Bernard (Donna) Burns Jr. of Columbia TN, Aunt and Uncle Joseph and Lucille Ciarmicoli, brothers and sisters in-law Sharon Taylor, Denise Taylor, Heidi Sia, Mark Taylor, Jon Taylor, predeceased by Vincent Sia and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Calling hours will be held at Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water Street Milford, MA on Monday, October 29th from 5pm - 8pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church 25 Cross Street Whitinsville MA.  Burial to follow at Hopedale Village Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Gideon's International and Hopedale Friends of the Elders P.O. Box 318 Hopedale MA 01747

To Robert's family and friends, please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss. It's so hard to lose someone we love, but the seeming finality of death is what makes it especially difficult. Job 14:14,15 gives us confidence that Jehovah God yearns to bring back to life the dead who are preserved in his memory. The Bible gives us a wonderful hope of living in a paradise on earth and seeing the resurrection of our dead loved ones. (Luke 23:43; John 5:28,29) May this bring you some comfort and strength, remembering that soon God will wipe away our tears and swallow up death forever. (Isaiah 25:8)

Sadness is in my heart with the loss of Bob he will be missed but never forgotten. His good heart and quick wit, kindness, willingness to help are just the tip of the iceberg or things we'll remember about him. Amy please do not hesitate to call me for anything.

It is a sad day when someone like Bobby leaves this earth. His parents, Lena and Bernie, were our parents' best friends, and we knew "Cousin Bobby" from as far back as we remember. In spite of all the obstacles life put in his path, he seemed always to face them with courage, wisdom, good humor and humility. And he lived a life as vital and productive as anyone could hope for. His spirit will live long among his family, friends and community.

Since grade school it has been an honor and privilege to call Biba my class mate, close friend and a source of personal inspiration. Your toughness and preseverance were legendary, as was your love of God, family, community and country. You truly were a great American. May God bless you forever. Jim Langlois

I worked with Biba at DCF(then DSS) in the Medway for three and a half years. We shared an office for two of those years. He was a great guy, smart, thoughtful, upbeat and very funny. We had a lot of laughs together. He would always go out of his way to help other people. We will miss you. Our sympathy to Amy and family

I grew up with Bobby in the Town Park neighborhood. He was the epitome of strength and courage. As a young boy he set an example for all of the neighborhood kids. Never complaining, always smiling. Bobby always had a kind word for me, and showed that he cared. He was a very special person. My deep condolences to his family, and especially to Bernie. Peace, Bobby.

Biba was a close and important friend to me all my life. We were born a day apart abd our mom's shared a maternity room together. I loved being around him. He was wise and smart and tough and thoughtful. He had a hard life full of pain but I never heard him complain. When I last saw him in July I confessed that I was getting a little weepy over the silliest little things that never had that effect on me before. He smiled, wiped his eye, and said the same thing was happening to him too. I'm going to miss you big time old friend.
Bob Moro

Sincere condolences to the family. Biba was an example for us all, overcoming obstacles and challenges that the ordinary person would have difficulty meeting. I am proud to have been considered his friend, and will miss him at future alumni gatherings. God bless you all. Requiescat in pacem, Biba.
