Denis Edward Ambrose, Jr., 37

Denis Edward Ambrose, Jr., 37, died of cancer on April 10, 2020.
Denis was born on March 25, 1983 to Denis Ambrose, Sr. and Marianne Hughes Ambrose. He grew up in Milford, Massachusetts with younger brother, Matthew Ambrose, and younger sister, Theresa Ambrose Richiedei.
Denis enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid Boy Scout, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating from Milford High School, Denis attended Roger Williams University where he discovered his passion for Latin and classical literature. He received an M.A. in politics at the University of Dallas and studied for a year at Saint John’s Seminary. Denis went on to become a teacher of Latin at several Boston-area high schools, culminating with Boston Latin Academy in 2018-2019.
In addition to his parents and siblings, he is survived by his brother-in-law Brian Richiedei, sister-in-law Jillian Wilson Ambrose, and beloved nieces, Vivian and Margaret Ambrose. He is also survived by his grandmother, Mary “Betty” Ambrose, as well as numerous cousins, uncles, and aunts who have been a blessing throughout his life, which ended too soon.
Funeral services will be held at Saint Joan of Arc Church, Orleans, MA after the coronavirus restrictions are lifted.

In honor of Denis’ memory, the family plans to establish a scholarship in his name. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider making a contribution through www.gofundme.com/f/remebering-denis-ambrose

I am saddened by this news. I had the pleasure of giving him haircuts and shaving off his beard from time to time and I always enjoyed having him in my barber chair. He was always kind and generous and I loved the opportunities I got to chat with him. I send you all my condolences.

Marianne & Dennis - There are no words....I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Denis was a great person by the things you would tell us, Marianne, but to see how amazing he was from the words written by his students is truly remarkable. He got his traits from you both and how proud will you always be to know you had the privilege of having him in your life....Condolences & Love

Dear Ambrose Family, Denis and I played a lot growing up, since we lived so close. I remember going to you house and being terrible on the pogo stick....I remember him running for class President, looking at the camera and guaranteeing results. Later on I enjoyed his social media posts about the Red Sox.... He was always such a nice and respectful guy. May he Rest In Peace. Kevin O’Neil

Dear family of Mr. Ambrose, My deepest condolences to you. My heart aches hearing of Mr. Ambrose's passing. He was truly a light during my time at Mystic Valley, and I would not have wanted my final year learning Latin to have been with anyone else. From our times having inside jokes with our class while reading Ovid to going to the Museum of Fine Arts with the Latin Club on the Ides of March, Mr. Ambrose embodied wisdom, compassion, and humility no matter what he did. His excellence extended to his desire to help others, and I will never forget how he accompanied our Key Club to our District Educational Conference in Springfield for a weekend. I am so grateful to have had Mr. Ambrose as both a teacher and a club advisor. May he rest in peace.

Dear Ambrose Family, Sending my deepest condolences to the Ambrose Family. I am grateful to have taught with Dennis this school year. He was very passionate, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about his vocation and it showed. I admired not just his abilities but his good natured disposition. He had a unforgettable style that resonated with me. I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. I can imagine how difficult this time is for your family. God bless!

Deepest condolences to your family on your loss. I only met Mr Ambrose once on parent-teacher conference night, but he left a wonderful impression as a kind, caring, and enthusiastic teacher. My daughter so appreciated his class and we were all deeply saddened by this news. He leaves a powerful legacy through his students. May his memory be a blessing.

I was lucky enough to have Mr. Ambrose as a teacher last year. He always fought for his students and gave us more than one chance to better our grades. He was hands down one of the best teachers I’ve had at BLA, always making us laugh and actually keeping us engaged in the class. Everyday he’d stand outside of the classroom and greet us as we walked in. Mr. Ambrose was truly a great man, and someone I’ll never forget. I send my deepest condolences to his family during these hard times.

To Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose, I was a student for your son at MV. I remembered he told me that he didn't want to talk to students after they graduated, but I guess he made me the exception. The last time I saw him in person was at a pro-wrestling show, he gave me his email before he left and its been history ever since. We would always talk about silly stuff and how school was for each of us and help me out with a few things. He was always so easy to talk to. The last time I saw him was in the hospital, Face-timing him. Even with the elephant in the room, he still found a way to put a smile on my face and I finally got closure between me and him. I wish I could have been there more for him those final days. But he said everything's okay. He told me that he's going to see everyone again. I know God is taking care of him and I'm just glad his pain is finally over. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose for raising such a nice man and giving me a true friend for the past two years.

Rest in Peace Mr. Ambrose. One of the nicest teachers ever. I remember last year, you'd always miss school because you were sick and we never knew why. Thanks for always being so patient with all your students and being one of the best Latin teachers ever. I'm going to miss all the jokes you made, and how you were always smiling and greeting us at the door. This doesn't feel real at all. You've only been my teacher for one year, but you taught me and the rest of your students so much. Thank you for everything. You will forever be missed

Dear Ambrose family, Please accept my condolences. Denis was a kind-hearted teacher, colleague, and friend. My life is better for having known him. multas per gentes et multa per aequora vectus advenio has miseras, frater, ad inferias, ut te postremo donarem munere mortis et mutam nequiquam alloquerer cinerem. quandoquidem fortuna mihi tete abstulit ipsum. heu miser indigne frater adempte mihi, nunc tamen interea haec, prisco quae more parentum tradita sunt tristi munere ad inferias, accipe fraterno multum manantia fletu, atque in perpetuum, frater, ave atque vale.

Rest in paradise to a great man and teacher. I was fortunate enough to have him 2 years in a row and learn a lot from him. His love for Latin was unmatched and sometimes i find myself reminiscing on the days in his class. My condolences to his family, friends and anyone else he might’ve influenced. God had a plan for his life and I hope he was able to fulfill it.
