Ronald Anthony Pagnini Sr. 87,

Ronald Anthony Pagnini Sr. 87, of Milford, passed away on Saturday December 5th at home with his beloved wife Phillie at his side as she held his hand and sang their favorite song, “I Can’t Stop Loving You”.   Her unending devotion never waivered as she watched his health decline over the past 19 years after a stroke that occurred on December 5, 2001.

Ron was born on November 13, 1933 in Walpole, Massachusetts to Edillio and Anne (DiGregorio) Pagnini and was predeceased by his brother Robert F. Pagnini who he loved and adored.

At the young age of 14, he began working daily after school along side his father in the family owned business, The Music Nook, in downtown Milford.  Being a successful businessman became his passion for a total of 54 years.  He proudly instilled in each and every customer and his dedicated employees to “Enjoy Life More with Music”.  Some considered him a Milford ‘treasure’, known for his warm smile, honest demeanor, and his vast knowledge of all things musical.  He had a way of making you believe in yourself and there was always a lesson to be learned or taught by him.

He was a born leader and took enormous pride in leading the Milford High School Class of 1951 as President.  He treated every classmate with love and respect and considered them extended family.

One classmate, Philomena Cardone caught his eye when she walked into the Music Nook for the first time.  It was ‘love at first sight’!  They became high school sweethearts and married five years later on June 25, 1955.  They celebrated 65 years of marriage this past June.

Ron had a deep appreciation for the arts and he admired the work of N. C. Wyeth and Andrew Wyeth.

He encouraged his children to look for beauty in the world and to discover all that it has to offer.  He was a collector of sports memorabilia, and so much more.  He was excited to share his collections with his children and grandchildren.

In his younger years, he loved playing ice hockey, tennis and going fishing.  He loved to travel whenever he had the opportunity, taking his children and grandchildren to Disney and Aruba, and his wife to Italy, Ireland, Morocco, and riding on the Orient Express.  His family was his lifeline and his eyes spoke volumes and lit up with each and every visit.

As a downtown businessman, he became actively involved in civic organizations and was a founding member of both the Claflin Hill Symphony and the Milford Downtown Partnership as well as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, organizing the sidewalk sales days with live music that brought the town together.  He supported the Milford Public School music programs as well as those in surrounding towns.  Each year he could be counted on to volunteer his services to set up sound systems for the Milford High graduation ceremonies and Memorial Day programs.

He was a lifetime parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford.

With all that Ron experienced and accomplished in his lifetime, it was his love and devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family that was undeniable to all that knew him.  He loved in a way that was gentle and endearing.  In his last years he taught his grandchildren and great-grandchildren the most powerful and important lesson of all and that is the unending love and support of family is life’s most precious gift.

In addition to his wife Philomena (Cardone), he is survived by his children LuAnn Malnati and her husband Paul, Jayne Moynihan and her husband Pete, and Ronald Pagnini Jr. and his wife Maureen (Eplite), his grandchildren, Marla Baisley and her husband Lee, Luke Chiccarelli and his wife Lauren (Haskell), James Malnati, Janice Moynihan Forster and her husband Tim, Erin Moynihan, Patrick Moynihan, Jesse Pagnini, Victoria Pagnini, Quirina Allegrezza, and Luke Allegrezza, and great-grandchildren, Caleb Johnson, Ryder and Summer Baisley, Riley, Liana, Leo, and Lillian Chiccarelli, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Gratitude and heartfelt thanks are extended to Comfort Care and the many caregivers that treated Ron with love and respect during his lengthy illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford, MA (upper church). Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Milford MA. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water Street, Milford MA.

I'm so sorry to hear the passing of Ron. Growing up in the 60's, if you weren't in a band you were no one. Our family and many others weren't rich. But Ron was there to help us make our dream come to reality. I bought my first Guitar from Ron. And everyone in our band did as well. As did a lot of other kids. We never made it big. But Ron made those years the best. And our teen years were big. The best because you Ron. And in later years when my son wanted to play drums, It was Ron who again made my sons dream big. Ron would do all that he could for us kids. God Bess him for help giving many kids in the Milford area to have great memories and live the dream. RIP Ron. Thank you

I’ve been sitting here trying to put my thoughts and memories about Ronnie into words. It is kind of difficult to do without being repetitive. All the tributes to him and the family that I have read have been so beautifully put. Those words say it all. He made a difference and an impact on so many lives. Ronnie, thank you ,thank you so much for all you did for me in the past. You left a lasting impression on me in more ways than you could have ever imagined. My heartfelt condolences go out to Ma Phillie and the entire Pagnini family. Also, I will never ever be able to look at a feather duster and not think of you! My love to you all. 🎼❤️

Sincere condolences to the entire family on the recent passing of Ron. The Music Nook was the go to place for LP records, instruments, and lessons back in the day. I purchased my first real HiFi system from Ron when he was selling KLH music systems in the 1970's. All my best to the family at this difficult time and may he rest in peace.

Milford has lost a SUPER star,,,a man who was so kind hearted,,so great to all us kids back in the day when 45 records were a smash. When we all went searching for the newest in Beatles records. If you were interested in playing a certain instrument the Music Nook was the place to go. Ron sold me my first set of Slingerland drums, (which I still use to this day). My brother Ribs, still plays around with the Lowrey organ too, thanks to Ron's wonderful and so loving wife Philly. Stopping by so often to get a new pair of the latest drum sticks, after a lesson from Bob Varney across the street. Please know Ron's memory will never pass. Having such a strong will to live, may he be a lesson to us all.

Ronnie truly was a Milford “treasure” to every teenager growing up during the 60’s. He was OUR disc jockey and our mentor supporting our love of any music genre or instrument. He was a role model for every young person who was lucky enough to walk into the Music Nook - and I don’t know a kid who didn’t! Rest well, Ronnie. I will always remember you with a smile.

He truly was a Milford "treasure ". Ron would allow us as teenagers to come into the store and "tickle the ivories" at the same time encouraging the musical spirit within. Never suspicious of anyone with the desire to explore a musical curiosity. I am grateful to this man who encouraged me to sing and play piano at a sensitive 18 years of age. RIP Sir - you were an inspiration to MANY!❤

I have so many memories of Auntie Phillie and Uncle Ronnie. I went into the U.S.A.F. in 1978 January. I have primarily lived in California ever since. I have not been to 77 Congress St. in over 20 years. I am from extremely humble beginnings, but Uncle Ronnie took an active interest in my music. He and Auntie were extremely kind to me. I realize the humility that both Uncle Ronnie and Auntie Phillie showed.

Our sincere condolences to all of his family. I have fond memories of him and The Music Nook. he will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Thoughts and Prayers to all his Family

Ronnie you were a great friend to every musician that ever walked into the Music Nook. I remember you extending many musicians credit because we did not have the cash to purchase a good instrument. You were always gracious and a great guy. There were not many like you. RIP Ron.
