Edna J. (Tomasini) Charest, 86, of Milford, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the Whitcomb House in Milford. Born in Milford, she was the daughter of the late Batista and Edith (Casalie) Tomasini and was a 1954 graduate of Milford High School.
Edna retired in 1997 after many years working at the Milford Regional Medical Center, in housekeeping, medical records, and central sterilization.
She was the wife of the late George R. Charest, who passed in 2013, and is survived by her daughter Edie Eidson of Uxbridge and her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Martin Sayles of Milford. She was the loving grandmother of Michelle Lagana of Seattle, WA, and the late Joseph Sayles. She was the sister of the late John Tomasini, Dorothea Bufalo, and Norma Plante and had many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In her youth, Edna was fun-loving and adventurous with her best friends Arlene, Ellie, Janie, Louise, and all the rest. “Those were the days that you could skip school and pretend to be exchange students at Holliston High – and get away with it” she confessed to her children. In all the years they were married, she often said of her husband George, “He’s quiet, but he’s damn good-looking”. As a loving mother to two girls growing up in the ’60s and ’70s, the aroma of Italian cooking and a plate of Oliva’s cold cuts were ever-present in her kitchen. However, she hid the chips, onion dip, and Hershey’s chocolate. As a grandmother, Edna was most loving and devoted and made no apologies for spontaneous singing and dancing whenever she was with her grandchildren. Edna especially loved ocean-side picnics and rides to nowhere.
