Esther G. (Murphy) Paradiso, 89,

Esther G. (Murphy) Paradiso, 89, of Manville RI, formerly of Milford, went to be with the Lord, Monday, January, 24, 2022. She was the wife of the late Dominic A. Paradiso Jr. who passed away in 1991. She was born in Milford daughter of the late Daniel and Eulalia (Bell) Murphy and lived in Milford and Sandwich before moving to Foster RI in 1987. Esther graduated in 1950 from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Milford. She was the salutatorian of her class as well as the secretary.

After graduation she was as a personal secretary at the former Porter Shoe. She then went on to be the personal secretary for Joseph Rosenfeld of Rosenfeld Concrete in Hopedale. After moving to Cape Cod in 1972, she got into banking and became a branch manager and officer of the Bass River Savings Bank. When she moved to Foster RI, in 1987 she was employed at Bank of America as a mortgage officer. She worked there until her retirement in 2003.

Esther, better known to her family as Gert , Aunt Gert, Nana, and GG Nana, loved her family very much. Especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Esther enjoyed cooking baking, gardening, knitting and crocheting. She was famous for her depression dishes that she learned to cook from her mother-in-law, and she enjoyed the Murphy family reunions. Esther loved to travel, especially her numerous trips to Hawaii, Hampton Beach and New Jersey.

She is survived by her children, Michael A. Paradiso and his wife Faith of Mendon, Donna A. Paradiso of Warwick RI, one sister Eulalia Halpin of Hopedale, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her granddaughter Andrea Ryder, three brothers, Leo Murphy, John Murphy and Daniel Murphy and one sister Mary McGovern.

Esther’s family would like to give special thanks to the Holiday Retirement Home for the wonderful care they gave Esther, especially the staff in Newport II.

The funeral will be held Monday, January 31, 2022 at 9 A.M. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale on Hopedale St. The burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery on Cedar St in Milford.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M.
