Doris T. (Thienel) Arcudi, 91, of Milford, died peacefully on June 23, 2022, in her home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of 58 years to Louis J. Arcudi, Jr. who predeceased her in 2011. Doris was the daughter of the late Arthur and Louise (Roy) Thienel and grew up in Worcester before moving to Milford in 1953 to start her family.
Doris is survived by one son Louis J. Arcudi III and his wife Mary (Whalen) Arcudi of Hopedale, two daughters Gail L. (Arcudi) Reichert of Milford, Gina A. (Arcudi) Hylander and her husband Christopher Hylander of Milford, and four grandchildren Christopher A. Antolini, Louis J. Arcudi IV, Michael J. Arcudi and Ashley M. Reichert. One of seven siblings, she was survived by Armand Thienel and predeceased by two brothers, Robert Thienel and Arthur Thienel and three sisters, Irene Sigel, Lena Thienel and Louise Orciani.
Doris attended the Worcester Girls Trade School and LaBaron Hairdressing Academy in Worcester. She was a hairdresser for most of her career and was employed in the cafeteria at Milford Public Schools. Doris was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Milford. Active in her community, Doris was a member of the Italian Vets Women’s Auxiliary, Scared Heart Women’s Club and the Red Hats Society. An avid reader, Doris always had a book close by and a story to tell. She enjoyed socializing at the Senior Center and playing mahjong and bingo with her friends. She spent many winters relaxing in Florida. In celebration of her 90th birthday, she travelled on a cruise to Alaska with her family in fulfilment of one of her life’s dreams.
The funeral to celebrate Doris’ life will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 9 A.M. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water Street followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 A.M. in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 7 East Main Street. The burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Medway Road in Milford. The calling hours are Monday June 27, 2022, from 5 to 8 P.M.
