Robert M. Minichiello Sr., 75,

Robert M. Minichiello Sr., 75, of Medway, MA passed away peacefully on December 15, 2022, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Boston, MA, and grew up in Milford, MA, son of Angelo C. and Mary T. (Iannitelli) Minichiello.   Robert leaves his beloved wife Rossella (Mussulli) Minichiello to whom he was married for 50 years.  He also leaves his three children Robert M. Jr. and his wife Elisabeth “Becky” (White) of Hopedale, MA, Keri (Minichiello) Morales and her husband Edgar of Jacksonville, FL, David J. and his husband Jeremy Dieffenbacher of Allston, MA, six grandchildren, whom he adored, Robert Minichiello, Edgar “Trey,” Abigail, Christian, Emily, and Elizabeth Morales.  He leaves one brother Stephen Minichiello and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Robert treasured his sisters- and brothers-in-law.  Together with his wife, Robert taught his children and grandchildren “if you don’t have family, you have nothing.”  This is his legacy.

Robert studied accounting and management at Burdett College in Boston, MA and worked many years in sales. Together with his wife, he proudly operated his independent business, Balloons N’ Things on Main Street in Milford in the 1980s.  As a retiree, he enjoyed seeing friends and family at his retirement job, Market Basket in Bellingham, MA. Robert was a former usher at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford, MA, a past member of the Milford Lodge of Elks and the Italian Vets, and organizations that supported his children, as an assistant Boy Scout leader of Troop 2 in Milford, and coach in Milford Junior League Baseball and Medway Youth Soccer.  He was also a founding member of the M-7, a fraternal organization of Minichiello family cousins.

He loved fishing, bowling, spending winters in Florida, and most of all spending time with his family.  His heart’s desire was simple, to love family, to love others, and to be loved. He left an indelible impression upon everyone he met throughout his life.  He will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and generosity.

The funeral will be held Wednesday December 21, 2022 at 10 A.M from the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 A.M  at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 7 East Main St. Milford. The burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling Hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M.

Rossella, I am so sorry for your loss. Bobby and I were friends for 71 years, ever since kindergarten at Sacred Heart of Jesus Grammar School in 1951. We graduated from Milford High School in 1964. I saw him regularly at Market Basket in Bellingham. He had a ready laugh and a genuine loyalty to friends and family. He was also devoted to his classmates, so much so that he helped arrange two reunions of our 8th grade class. I have fond memories of playing in the woods near the big water tank on Congress Street where we used to build little shacks with old pieces of lumber. Those were the halcyon days. I will miss Bobby. Rossella, please take comfort in the knowledge that he was much loved.

Neighbor Bob I lost a neighbor today; it was Neighbor Bob “The man the myth the legend”. We lived next door to one another for over 30years. Often times you would hear a shout from across the yard, “Hi Neighbor Bob:” to which the reply would be “Hi Neighbor Steve”. Many times it would be followed, “Have you got a minute”, and if the answer was yes one of us would show up with two beers. We would than share all the wonders of the day good and bad that life brought forth into our lives. On many occasion Neighbor Bob would often remind me in all of 30 years we never had a cross word to each other, as he would put it. Maybe we were more than just neighbors. I would like to think that. There were times one would ask the other for a favor and the answer was always “Yes”, even before knowing what exactly what the favor was. “It didn’t matter”. Someday and not very long from now Neighbor Bob and I will meet again, and he will be leaning over the fence with his big smile and his infectious chuckle with two bears in his hand. This time however, he will say, “Hi Brother Steve”, to the reply, “Hi Brother Bob” and we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever, spinning our fish stories about the one that got away. However, on a warm summers night when you look to the heavens and see the most beautiful sunset you think you have ever seen and the smell of the BBQ Grill is in the air, listen very closely and you will hear, coming from across the yards ”Hi Neighbor Bob”, “Hi Neighbor Steve”.
