Robert Lee Borden, 91,

Robert Lee Borden, 91, of Bellingham, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2023 after being stricken at home on New Year’s Eve. He entered the Kingdom of God surrounded and supported by his beloved family. Robert, or “Bob” as he was known, was born in Minnesota. He enlisted in the United States Navy and saw action in the Korean War. While on leave in Boston, he met and fell deeply in love with Mary Pellegrini, who became his cherished wife of 72 years.

Bob spent his career as a master plumber, and his children always believed there was nothing he couldn’t fix. Bob was a man of simple tastes. He loved good food, fine wines, action movies, and a good cup of coffee. Later in life, Bob underwent a powerful conversion experience that led him to become deeply religious and unswervingly dedicated to his church and its parishioners, many of whom became close friends.

Bob is survived by his wife Mary and their four children, Susan, Diane, Robert, and Wayne. In addition, he was treasured and loved by numerous family relatives. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Vernon.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church 17 Winter St, Milford, MA 01757 on Wednesday, January 11th at 12:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Oakland St., Medway, MA 02053.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. Milford Ma.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name can be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Renovation Fund.

Dear Mary, I just saw Bob's obituary and I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I loved Bob's sense of humor and loved how the two of you interacted together in love, happiness and joy. You are truly blessed to have enjoyed your lives together for so long; I envy your togetherness. Please accept my deepest condolences and may God be loving and kind to you as you adjust to the "new chapter" of life that you have entered. I met Bob and Mary as fellow parishioners of Saint Mary’s. When I became a lector, Bob was always complimentary. He loved that he could hear me even at the back of the church. Together, Mary and Bob, exuded a pure love that was evident to many. If that was in doubt, one only had to notice the traffic jam around their seats as one was exiting church. Everyone wanted to say hello and soak up some goodness from these sweet people. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary and all his family. Love,
Helen Stevens
