Donna Brooks Medara, 82

On January 11, 2023 Donna Brooks Medara passed away at Milford Regional Medical Center from COVID related complications. Donna was five days away from her birthday and passed after a very full life at the age of 82. She Joins her husband Don who passed away in 2019 and her son Greg who passed into the afterlife in 2006. Donna is survived by her two sisters Marcia Brooks Sweeney of Natick Ma. and Lynne Brooks Caron of Mendon, Ma. She is also survived by three of her sons, David Medara of Truckee, California, Thomas Medara (Shirrel) of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and Chris Medara of Orange Park, Florida, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Born and Raised in the Watertown/Natick area, Donna graduated from Umass Amherst with a teaching degree in 1961. She was married to Don Medara in 1962. They were together for 57 years until his passing in 2019. Don and Donna lived a wonderful life together. Don was a Naval Officer and retired with the rank of Captain after 32 years of service. They traveled the world together, lived abroad, raised 4 boys, and finally fulfilled the New Englander’s dream of retiring in Florida. Whether it was visiting with friends poolside in Florida, or Tapa hopping in Spain, Donna loved socializing with friends and family more than anything. With an effervescent personality and a rapier wit, she was often the life of the party. She never lost her characteristic Boston accent despite living outside Massachusetts for 60 years. Her warm smile, Boston accent and sense of humor will be missed.

The family plan to hold a service with a Military Burial for Don and Donna late spring or early summer on a date to be announced soon.

Through the holidays and your birthday coming up, it is a big void. You're loved and missed a great deal.

It's been nearly a year since you passed mom. I think of you often. I miss you and love you. I smile when I think of you.
Dave Medara

Donna was such a fun person to have in our Red Hats group in Green Cove Springs She brought a joke each month to read in her best Boston accent and we all delighted in her reading. We went to dinner and live theater often with Donna and Don. All who knew her miss her but know her spirit soars.
