William A Mirabile, Sr.,86, of Milford, MA passed away peacefully on March 16, 2023, at his home with his family by his side. William was born in Boston, MA to the late Guiseppe Mirabile of Sicily and Conchetta Mirabile (Greco) of Italy. He attended Boston Public Schools, growing up in Readville, MA. He served in the US Army from 1954-1957 and was stationed at Fort Cambell, KY in the 101st Airborne Division (aka “The Screaming Eagles”). Following his tenure in the US Army, he worked for Turner Construction as a Laborer and then spent most of his working career at the General Motors Assembly Plant as a Material Handler in Framingham, MA before retiring.
Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan Marie (Rooney) Mirabile, and his daughters Christine (James) Charzenski, Patricia Wiseman of Blackstone, and his son William (Catharine) of Bedford, NH. He has 5 grandchildren: Michael, Jessica, Thomas, Nicholas, and Matthew, as well as 5 great-grandchildren.
A resident of Milford, MA since 1968 with a big personality, he had a few nicknames ranging from “Willy”, “Wild Bill” and “Big Bill”. Most importantly he was known as “Pappy” to his immediate family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a voracious reader, enjoyed healthy political debate, and was a loyal Boston sports fan. He especially loved the daily deliveries of his 3 or 4 newspapers reading them front to back daily.
William came from a very large family in Readville, MA, and was the 10th and youngest child. He was pre-deceased by his parents Guiseppe and Conchetta, his twin brother Raymond, his other brothers including Joseph, Alphonse, Guido, and Albert, his sisters including Eleanor, Margarite, Elizabeth, and Angelina, and his granddaughter, Vanessa.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St. Milford MA, from 4 to 6 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 24 at 11:00am at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, 17 Winter St, Milford, MA.
Following the Mass at St. Mary’s, a graveside service will be held at 1:00pm at Fairview Cemetery, 45 Fairview Avenue, Boston, MA 02136.
