John Matarese 100,

John Matarese 100, of Milford died Friday September 9th at the Lydia Taft Rehab Center in Uxbridge after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Ninfa “Alice” (Pizzurro) Matarese who died in 2004. Born in Gaeta, Italy the son of the late Luciano and Rosa (Simeone) Matarese. He had lived in Arlington and Framingham before moving to Milford in 1996. He and his wife owned and operated the former Louie and sons fruit store in East Arlington for over 50 years.   A communicant of Sacred Heart Church, he was know for his late in life culinary skills. His specialty was lobster and shrimp sauce, which he regularly shared with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   He leaves two sons, John L. Matarese and his wife Ann (Lynch) of Bradford, William S. Matarese and his wife Beverly (Anderson) of Shrewsbury, a daughter Carol (Matarese) Caffrey and her husband Michael of Uxbridge, a brother Louie Matarese of Torrance California, six grandchildren, Jessica (Matarese) McCann of So. Grafton, Alicia Matarese of (T.I.L.L.) Westborough, Maura Matarese of Acton, John S. Matarese of Medford, Michael Caffrey of Uxbridge and Jennifer (Caffrey) Pinto of Middleboro, six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca, and Luke McCann, Emily and Megan Matarese, and Michael Caffrey, he was the brother of the late Dominic Matarese of San Pedro, California and Irene Silva of Arlington.  
         A Funeral will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 At 9 A.M. from Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St Milford, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery on Medway Road. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5 to 9 P.M. at the funeral home.
