Michael D. Vasti, 92,
Michael D. Vasti, 92,
of Franklin, died Sunday, October 2, 2011 in the Franklin Skilled Nursing Center in Franklin. He was born in Milford, son of the late Guiseppe and Antonetta (Verelli) Vasti and lived in Milford before moving to Franklin in 1989. Mr. Vasti, served honorably, as a medic in the US Army, from 1943 to 1946. He was deeply proud of the seven campaigns and 235 straight days of combat that he fought in. His army unit liberated eight Philippine Islands and captured 33 air fields held by the Japanese military forces. For his efforts he was awarded three bronze stars and a good conduct medal. After the service he attended business school, he worked for Electrolux Corp. and eventually became an executive of the company. He left Electrolux to work for John Davoren as deputy secretary of his staff. He was Mr. Davoren’s deputy secretary for eight years. He is survived by nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Frank Vasti, John Vasti and his sisters Olivia Pellegrino, Lena Delellis and Grace Cugini. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 7, 2011 at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 7 East Main St. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston RI. Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral mass from 8 to 9:30 A.M. in the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. in Milford.
