Joao J. Braza, 75,

Joao J. Braza, 75, of Milford died on November 2, 2011, surrounded by his family in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. He was the husband of Maria G. (Lavrado) Braza of 50 years. He was born in Mourilhe, Montalegre, Portugal son of the late Domingos and Benta (Goncalves) Braza and moved to Milford in 1975. He was educated in the Portugal Schools. He was a veteran of the armed forces of Portugal. Mr. Braza retired in 2006 from the Archer Rubber Company in Milford where he was employed as a machinist. He was an avid soccer fan and his favorite team was Porto. He was a communicant of the St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church and a member of the Milford Portuguese Club. In addition to his wife she is survived by one son Joao A. and his wife Dolores (Vala) Braza of Ludlow, one daughter Maria F. and her husband Sergio Afonso of Hopedale, three brothers Joaquim Braza and Domingos Fernandes both of France, Jose Braza of Milford, two sisters Maria Pires of Portugal, Ana DaSilva of Milford, two grandchildren, Sergio Afonso and Jason Afonso both of Hopedale, many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Monday, November 7, 2011 at 9 A.M. in the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. Milford MA. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 A.M. in the St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church on Winter St. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery on Cedar St. in Milford. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 5 to 9 PM.

He was always the first one to call us on the Holidays and special occasions to wish us well and every so often just to say hello and check how everyone was doing. We will miss him very much.
