Luigi G. “Gino” D’Amato, 89
Luigi G. “Gino” D’Amato, 89, of Milford, where he has lived since 1948, died, Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the Genesis Healthcare, Milford Center.
Born in Busana, Italy, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Antoinette D’Amato, and was the husband of the late Rose M. (DeLuca), whom passed in 1996.
He retired in 1989 from Boston Digital Corp., where he had worked as an assembler for 7 years. He had formerly worked at Draper Corp. in Hopedale, as a machinist for many years, the former Uxbridge quarries, as well as running his family owned fruit and produce company from 1956 through the mid 1970’s. A dedicated parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Gino faithfully attended Mass every Sunday, often times, all of the Masses. He was a hardworking, loving and devoted family man, whose greatest pleasures in life came from spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews at large Sunday family dinners, barbeques, and outings at the beach. Gino was a great man, and friend, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He was the father of Lawrence D’Amato and his wife Kathleen of Hopedale, and Louis D’Amato and his wife Carole of Uxbridge. Brother of the late Vincenzo and Anthony D’Amato, Rose Porcello, and Clara DeLuca, he is also survived by five grandchildren, Lisa Therien, Erica Millette, Justina, Carly, and Nicholas D’Amato, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Gino’s Funeral will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 9 A.M from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. in Milford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main St. in Milford. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gino’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.

I was saddened to hear of Gino's passing, I always enjoyed working with Gino at Boston Digital. He always had a kind smile and heartfelt hello for me and he would always bring me a bottle of his wine at Thanksgiving or Christmas. My deepest condolences to the entire family.
