Adeline “Peggy” Tavano, 90,
of Milford passed away, Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Countryside Healthcare in Milford. She was born in Milford daughter of the late Vito and Lauretta (Volpe) Tavano and was a lifelong Milford resident.
A veteran of World War II served in the Women’s Army Corp. and was discharged Thanksgiving Day 1945with a Sargent rating. She was educated in the Milford schools and the Roushon Institute of Photography in Hartford CT.
She began her career doing home sittings and later opened Peg’s Studio. She took school photographs of children for several years, in addition to taking pictures in her studio. Later in her career she was employed in Boston for many years in photography and retouching.
She was a communicant of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a member of the Sacred Heart Women’s Club and Friends of Seniors. She loved to dance bowl, travel and play bingo.
She leaves two nieces, Lorraine (Carboni) Federico of Medway, Judith (Pedroli) Micelotta of Milford, four nephews, Dennis Tavano of Milford, Peter Carboni of Framingham, Robert Carboni of Holliston and Ronald Carboni of Pascoag RI and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters Mary Carboni, Dena Pedroli, Louise Apicella and her brother Joseph Tavano.
A mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 9 A.M. in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 7 East Main St. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery on Cedar St. in Milford. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the The Rosary Shrine of St. Jude 501 Sixth St. S.W. Washington DC 20024
