Louise C. (Carneiro) Helfand, 67,

            Louise C. (Carneiro) Helfand, 67, of Milford passed away, Friday, March 7, 2014 in the Genesis Healthcare Center in Milford. She was born in Donoes, Montalegre, Portugal daughter of Angelina (Miranda) Carneiro of Milford and the late Manuel Carneiro and immigrated to America and moved to Milford when she was 16 years old. 
     Mrs. Helfand retired in 2012 from the Milford schools where she was employed as a cafeteria worker. She was a communicant of the St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, a member of the Milford Community Chorus, volunteered at the Unitarian Church helping with suppers. In her younger years she was an avid bowler.     
       She is survived by her children, David Barroso and his wife Sherry of FL, Scott Miller and his wife Adele of Milford, Tracy Acito and her husband William of Holden, four brothers Heitor Carneiro, Manuel Carneiro, Jose Carneiro, Ilidio Carneiro all of Milford, four sisters, Cesaltina Quinterio of France, Maria Valenca of Milford, Lucia Cerqueira of Portugal, Helena Hollett of Whitinsville, six grandchildren, Steven Evora of FL, Sofia Acito and Elysia Acito both of Holden, Audrey Miller, Ayden Miller and Scarlett Miller all of Milford, many nieces and nephews in Milford, Portugal and France.         The funeral will be held at Monday, March 10, 2014 at 9 A.M. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. in the St. Mary’s of Assumption Church on Winter St. in Milford. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery on Cedar St. Milford MA.         
      Friends and family may visit Sunday from 6 to 8 P.M.
