James L. Calarese, 99,

            James L. Calarese, 99, of Milford passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 in the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Audrey (Chouinard) Calarese who passed away in 2011 and the late Eva (Pizzi) who passed away in 1977. He was born in Milford, son of the late Alphonse and Alberta (Leo) Calarese and was a lifelong Milford resident.   He was a graduate of the Milford High school class of 1933.     
     Mr. Calarese, in his early years, delivered bread and pastry. His yellow and green van was seen six days a week stopping at homes all over Milford. He also co-owned and operated, along with sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Albert Mazzarelli, Albert's Bakery on Genoa Ave. in Milford. After selling the bread business he was associated with Berardi Loan Company and then the Ideal Finance Company where he retired as finance manager.
        He is survived by his children, James W. and his wife Josephine (Palmieri) Calarese of Milford, Cynthia Phillips of Solana Beach CA, Dr. Patti Calarese of Belchertown, one brother Francis Calarese of Hedgesville West VA, two sisters Celia Deschler of Newington CT, Mary Calarese of  West Yarmouth, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.   
           The funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St.
