David C. Morganelli, 47,

David C. Morganelli, 47, of Milford died peacefully in the arms of his loving wife, Janet, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Framingham in 1967, the son of the late Dr. Peter J. and Barbara Ann (DiVittorio) Morganelli. He is survived by his wife Janet (DiGregorio) Morganelli. They would have celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary in November. He is also survived by their three children: Ava Mary, age 13, an 8th grade student at Middle School East; Jane Helen, age 11, a 6th grade student at Stacy Middle School, and Peter Carl, who will turn 10 next week, a 4th grade student at Woodland Elementary School. He leaves behind four siblings and their spouses: Peter Morganelli and his wife Karen, Paul Morganelli and his wife Brett, Mark Morganelli and his wife Julia, and Carla (Morganelli) Mullen and her husband John. In addition, he leaves behind his beloved in-laws, Dr. Carl and Helen (Meade) DiGregorio and their family. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, in addition to many loving friends and colleagues.
After graduating from Marian High School class of 1985 and voted Most Talented, he entered Providence College, graduating cum laude in 1989 with a degree in Accounting. David remained a loyal and active Providence College Friar, he held season tickets to Friar’s basketball games, and was a member of the Providence College Alumni Association Board of Governors. In 1993, he earned his JD from New England School of Law and then his Masters of Law (LLM in Banking Law) from Boston University School of Law in 1994. He was currently working towards his second Master’s Degree in Law (Masters in Tax Law) from Bentley College. David was also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  David was most recently employed for the past eight years at the law firm of Partridge, Snow & Hahn in Providence, RI, where he was chair of the firm’s Tax Group. David looked forward to going to work every day because of the rewarding work, and most importantly, his colleagues.
David was a very active member of the Milford community. He was a member of the Milford Finance Committee, serving as the Chairman for a number of years. He also coached his son’s basketball and baseball teams for many years. David was a Town Meeting member, a lector at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish and a proud member of The Foggiano Club in Milford. He was also actively involved in the Milford Anti-Casino movement. David so strongly believed in giving back to the community he grew up in that he conceived of and founded the Milford Farmer’s Market which is now flourishing. There is not nearly enough space here to convey how deeply David touched people during his lifetime with his sense of humor, community service, commitment to family and strong faith. He was a bright light who made people feel better by simply being around him. The weekend before his last major health crisis, in the place he loved most, David’s life was celebrated with a magnificent birthday party at his in-laws’ summer home in Newport, RI. He was surrounded by so many people who loved, cared for and admired him. It was exactly what David wanted and was the perfect way to end a wonderful summer.
The funeral will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 9 AM from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 7 East Main St. Burial will follow in the parish Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Oliva Fund for Cancer Care @ Milford Regional Hospital Foundation, ATTN: Oliva Fund, 14 Prospect Street, Milford MA 01757.

I am so sorry to hear this. I interviewed David several times for the Milford Patch. He was always so honest when asked any kind of question, and shared one of the more moving stories of what happened at the Boston Marathon in 2013. My condolences to his wife, Janet and his children, and to the organizers of the Milford farmer's market. A wonderful man. Tremendous loss for Milford.

Janet, you are an amazingly strong woman, mother, and wife. Our family grieves for your familiy's loss and will keep you in our prayers..

To the Morganelli family, I was lucky enough to live next to David my freshman year at Providence College. David was the smartest individual I have met in my life. Even though he was a highly accomplished attorney, he was an even better comedian. Once a week in the evening my freshman year at PC, he would hold court telling jokes and doing impersonations, it was a weekly must see. He brought laughter and smiles to everyone’s face. Sorry for the loss of a great man, life cut too short. He will be remembered forever.
David Guden

I didn't know David but a friend of mine does and she has been asking us to pray for David and his family (which I have been doing). I want to express my sadness for David and his family, but I also want to say that this family appears to be very loving, strong, supportive and Christian. The write-up above was done with so much grace and love and postiveness in the face of such a loss. It is inspiring. Blessings to all of you and I pray for God's peace for all.

I went to High School at Marian with David, although I have not seen him since graduation day. I remember that he always had a huge presence. You knew David was in the room - even if it contained 100 people. I am so glad to see that David made so much of his life. It's obvious that he touched many people. His life may have been cut short - but it's very clear to me that he must have lived fully and achieved great things. I am terribly sorry for your loss.
Walter Hill
