Dominic J. “Doc” Morte Jr., 87, of Milford, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, Sunday, September 11, 2016, in his home. He was the husband of the late Dorothy M. “Dottie” Morte who passed away in 2009. Doc was a lifelong Milford resident and was a graduate of the Milford High School class of 1947. He was the son of the late Domenic and Laura (Muccini) Morte. Doc was a Korean War Army Veteran and the recipient of the Purple Heart. Doc retired in the late 80’s from the Milford Highway Department where he worked as an equipment operator for many years. He was a proud member of the Milford Italian Veterans. He loved playing cards and bocce with his friends and watching the Boston Red Sox. He treasured time with his grandchildren and was deeply proud of their accomplishments.
Doc is survived by one son John D. and his wife Maria (doVal) Morte of Milford, two grandchildren Victoria M. Morte and J. Alexander Morte both of Boston, his brother, George Morte of Anaheim CA, his sister, Phyllis D’Amico of Milford, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Gennaro “Spike” Morte and his sister Adele (Morte) Tamagni
The funeral will be held Friday, September 16, 2016 at 9 A.M. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. A mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. in the upper church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 7 East Main St. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Medway Rd. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M..
