Edward J. Melenkivitz, 66

Edward J. Melenkivitz, 66, of Hopedale, passed away following a long illness, Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Kerry A. (Waterman) Melenkivitz for 44 years. Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Swieton) Melenkivitz. Raised in Queens, NY, he was a graduate of Bishop Loughlin High School in Bronx, NY. He earned a BA from the University of Rhode Island, and an MBA from Western New England College, and worked as an accountant until his retirement in 2012. A 30 year resident of Hopedale, he had been very active in the Hopedale Boy Scouts, Troop 1, and volunteered for over 18years at the Boston Marathon. Loving father of Adam Melenkivitz and his wife Corrine of San Raphael, CA, and Rory Waterman and his wife Sarah of Burlington, VT. “Popcorn” to his 3 grandchildren, Avery, Mae, and Piper, he was the brother of the late Eleanor Schoenberg and the late Joseph Melenkivitz, and is also survived by his nephew Harrison Waterman of Sandwich, and nieces, Amy Murphy of Ludlow, and Laura Cirillo of E. Longmeadow. Services will be private, and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford, MA 01757
