Joseph W. “Bill” Thibodeau, passed away on November 5, 2023, after spending time visiting and celebrating with his family and friends in Massachusetts. Bill was born April 3, 1938, to Edward and Helen Thibodeau, in Winterport Maine. The youngest of five sons. He is the loving husband of the late Lynette Randall Thibodeau, and the brother of Reno, Robert, Edward Jr, and George. He is the father of Joseph Thibodeau II, Sara and Scott Forsythe. Grandfather of Allison Thibodeau, Victoria and Alex Wilkinson. Great grandfather to Donovan McCarthy, Greyson McCarthy, Lyra Wilkinson, Benjamin Johnson, and Rylin Wilkinson. Bill is also the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews as well as their children and grandchildren.
Bill proudly served his country in the Army 11th Airborne division as a paratrooper. Returning home to marry the love of his life, Lynette Randall. After settling in Holliston, MA, he began working for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, where his hard work, and dedication of over 60 years played a part in the construction of many homes, municipal buildings, and public works. He used his skills helping his community on many projects, such as making backstops for the little league baseball teams that he coached and managed.
Bill lived a full and meaningful life, finding joy in simple pleasures. He loved to laugh, joke, and skunk you in a game of cribbage. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and for many years shared his joy for life with his local square-dancing community, the Fourmost Squares. He left behind many cherished memories for all who knew him. Bill will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, his love of God, faithful devotion to the Catholic Church and his community. His legacy of helping others, broad smile and booming laugh will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Gabriel’s Church in Winterport, Maine on Saturday December 2nd at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest beside his loving wife, Lynette, at Mt. Vernon Veterans Cemetery in Augusta, Maine on December 4th at 1:00 pm.
