Raymond E Andreotti, 83

Raymond E Andreotti, 83 of Hopedale, MA, passed away peacefully on December 25 at Harbor Point of Centerville. Ray was a man of remarkable character, unwavering integrity, and boundless love. Born on September 6, 1940 to the late Raymond and Concetta (Fino) Andreotti of Milford, he lived a life that touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a cherished friend.

Ray proudly served as the quarterback for the Scarlet Hawks during his time at Milford High School before graduating in 1958 and pursuing higher education at Tufts University. Following his academic journey, Ray embarked on a fulfilling career as a biochemist at the U.S. Army Natick Laboratories in Natick, MA, where he dedicated 37 years of service. Upon retirement, he redirected his focus to his lifelong passion for art. Ray achieved recognition as a longstanding member of the prestigious American Watercolor Society, earning numerous awards in national, regional, and local art exhibitions. He was also affiliated with the New England Watercolor Society, Rhode Island Watercolor Society, and Academic Artists Association, showcasing his accomplished pieces inspired by his travels. Ray had a deep affection for capturing the beauty of his Italian heritage, family and friends, the New England landscape, and his cherished hometown of Hopedale, MA. Beyond his artistic pursuits, Ray actively contributed to Hopedale, serving on the Finance Committee, Cultural Council, Arts Council, and Historical Commission. An enthusiastic golfer, he was a member of the Hopedale Country Club, relishing rounds with his longtime friends.

Ray's spiritual devotion led him to serve as a lector and a valued member of the community at Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale. However, his greatest source of love was his 59-year marriage to his wife Joanne. Raymond is survived by his wife Joanne, son R. Michael Andreotti and his wife Alaina of Brunswick, ME, Gina M Kovach and husband Steve of Brewster, grandchildren Steven, Leah and Evan Andreotti and Jared, Kelsey, Ellie Kovach.

Calling hours will be celebrated on Friday, December 29 from 3 to 6pm at Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water Street, Milford, MA. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated, Saturday, December 30, 12:00pm, at Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale, MA followed by burial at Hopedale Village Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sacred Heart Church 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale, MA 01747 or  Amedisys Foundation 1060 Falmouth Way Suite A, Hyannis, MA 02601

Though Dale and I never had the pleasure of meeting Ray, his gentle soul and emanating light are evident in Mike and his children, and we hope that the family continues to perceive Ray’s spirit and light in all beautiful that lives and breathes. With sympathy, Marie and Dale, Alaina’s uncle

Ray was a great guy i knew when i first started to play golf at Natick Labs. He orchestrated signing up as Golf Marshalls at the local PGA tour event at Pleasant Valley. Great character and loved his sports. He will be missed.

Sorry for your loss. I worked with Ray at Natick Labs for many years. I have several paintings that he did for me which we greatly cherish. Heaven will be all the richer with his presence.

I first met Ray in 1958 when we were assigned as roommates at Tufts University and that started our lifelong friendship. We (Ray, Joanne, Carol and myself) enjoyed many adventures and quality times together. Sailing (New England, Chesapeake, Caribbean, Bahamas), skiing (all over New England), golfing (from the Villages to New England), Bermuda anniversary trip to name just a few. All fun but the best time was just being together. A lot of fond memories! Ray was my best friend and I will miss him

So sorry for your loss . Your dad was such a great and talented guy. I won't be coming for the services because I'm not feeling well and don't want anyone catching my bug. I'll be praying for your mom and your family during this sad time.
