Richard P. Gaudette, 81, of Marlboro died peacefully surrounded by his family on January 2, 2024. He was the husband of the late Marilyn (Ross) Gaudette who passed away in 2011. They were married for 45 years. Richard was also a resident of Milford for 50 years prior to his recent relocation to Marlboro.
Mr. Gaudette was born in Spencer, MA in 1942, the son of the late Roland and Jeannette (Ledoux) Gaudette. He was a graduate of David Prouty High School in Spencer and received a BS in Education from Assumption College. Mr. Gaudette was a long-time teacher in the Natick school district, teaching French at the high school before moving to the position of Vice Principal later in his career. Mr. Gaudette was heavily involved with the National Catholic Forensic League (NCFL), a speech and debate league, serving as the executive secretary and treasurer for 26 years from 1982 to 2008. The Richard Gaudette NCFL Service Award was established in his honor as a lifetime achievement award for one honoree per year. Richard was also the director for Natick Drama Workshop from 1972-1983 and thoroughly enjoyed working with children for these productions. Mr. Gaudette was also a long-time member of the St. Mary’s Parish in Milford and sang in the choir for many years as well as serving as a lector. Additional interests involved travelling and spending time with family, particularly at the family lake house in East Brookfield. He was also a frequent spectator and avid fan at his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.
Richard is survived by his two sons, Dr. Brian Gaudette and wife Dr. Deb Fuller of East Greenwich, RI, Keith Gaudette and wife Jennifer of Marlboro; three brothers, Roland “Fan” Gaudette and wife Joanie of S. Hadley, MA, John Gaudette and wife Marilyn of Spencer, MA and Paul Gaudette and wife Dorothy of Las Vegas, NV; Five grandchildren, Eric, Alexa, Mason, Max, and Emerson as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be celebrated on Friday, January 12 from 4-7pm at Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water Street, Milford, MA. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 13 at 10am at St. Mary’s Church, 17 Winter Street, Milford, MA. There will be a private burial at the request of the family.
