Nancy Ann Fertitta, of Milford died Thursday February 20, 2025 at Lydia Taft Nursing home at the age of 67. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments. Nancy was born and raised In Milford at the old homestead on Pond Street. She has a lot of ties to Milford and refused to leave “good old Milford” even when most of her family had moved away to other towns. She was a true “Milfordian.” In her younger days you would see her walking down Main Street with her pet skunk that she had rescued. Along with the skunk she rescued a raccoon and many cats. During her younger days you would also find her at her favorite hangout spot “The Wall” with all her friends.
After graduating Milford High in 1976 she decided to join a van club and travel cross country. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She even traveled to Hawaii, one of her favorite trips. During her traveling she also attended many concerts. From the Allman Brothers Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, even Aerosmith when they played at the high school in Hopedale before they were famous.
Nancy started working at Cushing Hospital which led to her career in working with the elderly. She loved being an activities director at adult daycares and nursing homes. She had this natural pull to her and made many friends where ever she went. She was known to have multiple jobs that mostly included taking care of the elderly. She even became a caregiver to her beloved Doris, who quickly became part of her family.
Nancy was a single mother to her daughter Rebecca. She was both mom and dad. She always made sure that Rebecca did not go without. From either getting her daughter a Barbie jeep or NSYNC tickets. During the early years of raising her daughter they lived at Luby Ave. During her time there she made many lifelong friends that both herself and daughter are still friends with today.
If you knew Nancy you would also know how much she loved her beloved New England Patriots! She was a fan even before they started winning Super Bowls. Way back in the day she had found out that when they had a home game they would stay at the old Radison Hotel in Milford. Every home game, rain or shine she would be there holding a sign wishing them good luck. She met many players including her beloved Tom Brady. She was also a supporter of the Boston Bruins but her first love was the Patriots. She even named her beloved dog Brady.
Nancy was one of a kind. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Giampietro of Oxford, MA. Her sister Ann Shearer and brother in law Eric Shearer of Uxbridge, MA. Her nephew Mike Fitzmaurice and wife Emily Fitzmaurice of Burrillville, RI. Her nephew Cliff Fitzmaurice of Milford, MA and her beloved cat Lucy. She supported all her family in whatever ventures they pursued. She was truly a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Many people have a special story or memory of her. During her final days at Lydia Taft she had become a favorite to many of the staff, who cared for her lovingly and made her last days comfortable. In her final days she was heard saying what a great life she had lived and wanted all to know it was a full life. She left this world on her terms and made an impact on all she came into contact with.
