Patricia (Coyle) Fountain, 77

Patricia Coyle, was born in Framingham, MA. She was the daughter of Jim Coyle and Irene Lawrence Coyle. She married Stephen Fountain and they had two children, Nathaniel and Joshua. She had three younger brothers, Jim, John and Dennis.

Pat was an excellent student in school and graduated second in her class in 1966. She was a member of the high school band where she played the slide trombone. She also played in several bands in the Milford/Hopkinton area and was mentored by Joe Markarian at Hopkinton High School and Gerry Secco in Milford.

After high school Pat attended Framingham State College where she graduated with honors. After graduating she was hired by the Holliston School System where she taught math and science during her 35-year career. During her career Pat went above and beyond taking students on trips to the Statue of Liberty in NYC and organizing different clubs like SCAT, Students Concerned About Tomorrow. She piloted programs for the National Geographic Kids Network. Pat also setup the weather station where students broadcast weather reports on the school television network. Pat really enjoyed taking students to the Challenger Center at Framingham State College. Her friend Mary Liscombe, a fellow classmate of Christa McAuliffe like Pat, worked at the Challenger Center.

Before Pat married me she planned to teach on Indian reservations but love intervened. I wonder what she’ll be teaching in Heaven.

Love,

Steve, Nathaniel and Joshua

Dear Steve, Nathaniel, and Josh, I have so many fond memories of my friendship with Pat. We first met in third grade. We were in band and orchestra together all through junior and senior high school where we were in just about every class together. We went to Framingham Star and taught in Holliston. We were maids of honor in each other’s weddings. I loved it when Pat brought her classes to the Challenger Learning Center at The Christa McAuliffe Center. Her students were always well prepared and enthusiastic about the simulated space flight program they participated in. Pat, I will always cherish our friendship. With love,
Mary Kenney Liscombe

Uncle Steve, Nathaniel and Josh, A lot of my younger years involve many visits and sleepovers with all of you. When I think of Auntie Pat I hear her laugh, I hear your sharing her opinion during many conversations and standing by her convictions. I also remember she always greeted me with a big hug and a kiss and always did the same when saying goodbye. I had a lot of respect for my Aunt and I always felt the love she had for me. I am so glad I went to see her in the hospital as I was able to give her one last kiss goodbye and tell her I love her. Love, Jen
