Edward “Gunner” Robertson, age 80, of Milford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. A beloved husband, father, and friend, Ed leaves behind a legacy marked by hard work, humor, and a deep love of sports.
A true Milford legend, Ed was inducted into the Milford Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements in both baseball and basketball. His athletic prowess in his youth left a lasting impression on all who watched him play, and his name remains etched in local sports history. He was a well-respected coach for many different Milford baseball organizations. As an avid boxing fan, he was the inspiration for the Milford Chapter of Team Micky Ward Charities, helping local families in need for 15 years. Ed worked for Bostonian Foods for over 20 years before retiring.
He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for his quick wit, generous heart, and the countless stories he told.
Edward is survived by his wife, Deborah Robertson; daughter, Erika Robertson of Milford; sons, Douglas Robertson of Slatersville, Rhode Island, Christian Robertson and his companion Rachel Carragher, of Charlton, MA; granddaughter, Victoria Robertson; and grandsons, Zackary Robertson, Jacoby Robertson, and Logan Robertson, all residing in Slatersville, Rhode Island. He is predeceased by his mother, Elaine Robertson, and his father, Edward Robertson.
At Edward's request, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Ed’s memory by sharing a story, raising a glass, or watching a game in his honor—just the way he would’ve wanted.
