Paul A. Lavallee, 82, of Milford, MA, died Sunday April 16, 2017 after complications from a head injury. He was the husband of Grace M. (Ruggiero) Lavallee. The couple would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 9th. Mr. Lavallee was born in Linwood, MA on September 11, 1934, the son of Arthur P. and Aurore M. (Auclair) Lavallee.      Mr. Lavallee was the author of several publications, most notably his novels: “Rattle of the Looms,” its sequel “Emory’s Mansion” and “Fire Watch” which depicts family life in a small, New England mill town and from time to time touching upon the United States Marine Corps.

Before his retirement from EMC Corporation in 1999, after ten years, Mr. Lavallee worked at Data General Corporation in Southboro and Westboro for 18 years. Previously to that, he worked at Honeywell, Inc., in Framingham.

Mr. Lavallee was educated in both the Uxbridge and Milford school systems, as well as graduating Magna Cum Laude from what he considered to be the School of Hard Knocks. He also has a degree in English Composition from Orange County Community College in Santa Ana, CA.,

Upon his return from Korea, Mr. Lavallee played shortstop for the El Toro Marine Air Base all service baseball team, which encompassed 12 military bases along California’s ocean coast.  Mr. Lavallee came away with a runner-up trophy for league MVP after his team lost a 2-1 championship game to the Corona Del Mar Medics.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling together across the country as well as many trips to Europe. They also enjoyed many trips with their grandchildren throughout the years.

Mr. Lavallee was a long-time member of the Milford Democratic Town Committee, a Milford Town Meeting Member, a former Milford Personnel Board member, a past Commander of Medway VFW Post 1526, Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of Milford’s Italian-American War Veterans Post 40 and The Frascotti Veterans Post 1544. A proud Marine veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Lavallee spent seventeen months in that war-torn country.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Rebecca of Milford, three granddaughters: Amanda Redden, Amy Redden of Milford and Bonnie Alger of Blackstone who were constantly at his bedside along with his best friend Maggie, the family sheltie-poodle.

He also leaves three brothers: Richard A. Lavallee of Port Orange, Florida, Donald E. Lavallee of The Villages, Florida, and David C. Lavallee of Linwood, MA. Two sisters: Marie Potter and Elizabeth Tancrell, both of Uxbridge, MA.
