Ana Goncalves, 90, of Milford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Ana is one of seven siblings originally from Travassos da Cha, Portugal. She emigrated to the United States with her family in 1973, where she first worked at Archer Rubber and then Data General. Ana was the widow of Avelino Goncalves of Travassos da Cha, Portugal, who passed in 1980.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Milford, MA. Ana will be remembered lovingly by her family for her strong-willed personality and overwhelming admiration of her children.
Her presence will be truly missed by all. Ana is survived by her four children, Maria Pires and her late husband Joaquim Pires, Helena Costa and her husband Fernando Costa, Fernanda Afonso and her husband Jose Afonso, and Joao Goncalves and his wife Lurdes Goncalves. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Luis Pires, Ana Peniche, Fernanda Costa, Fernando Pires, Sonia Afonso, Daniel Goncalves, Nancy Afonso, Amanda Masotta, Jonathan Peniche, Nicholas Pires, Colby Pires, Eliana Pires, Emali Pires, Griffin Goncalves, and Caleb Goncalves.
The funeral will be held Monday, May 8, 2017 at 9 A.M. from the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Winter St. The burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
